Description: This course includes slide presentations and group discussion sessions designed to provide the participants with knowledge of Electrical Safety. Also included will be explanation and discussion of Electricity Hazards (electrical shock, electrical burns, thermal burns and arc flash incidents), Electricity Isolation and Safe Practice Procedures (grounding, re-energizing, etc.), Roles and Responsibilities of key personnel involved in electrical work and Assessing and Managing Hazards, Proper PPE Selection, Electrical Response Basics. The course begins with a discussion of Electricity Basics, including the definitions of key Electricity Terms (voltage, ohms and amps) and the Rationale for Electrical Safety Practices and Procedures. Slides, pictures, diagrams and charts will be reviewed to highlight the use of proper PPE, properly installed safety devices and equipment, and Electrical Safe Work Practice, including the conditions for work stoppage. Much of the course will involve a detailed review and discussion of key documents and tools, especially the Energized Electrical Certificate Form sections and implementation. Key Electrical Safe Work Practices definitions, examples and photos will be presented and discussed in instructor-led discussions. Finally, an evaluation activity will include a Written Post Test to assess their knowledge of Electrical Safe Work concepts, processes, and tools.

Description: A register of all lifting and load restraint equipment items shall be maintained for each Business Unit/Area.
Periodic inspection of lifting and load restraint equipment shall be completed by a PLE Inspector. Period inspections shall be appropriate to the nature of the equipment and its working conditions, and be performed no less than annually. The personnel using the equipment shall also inspect the lifting and load restraint equipment before each use.
Lifting and load restraint equipment found to be or suspected of being defective, damaged or otherwise not safe to use shall have an Out of Service tag attached and shall not be used.
